Ordinary Heroes

George's 5th album, the first to be released under a major label (Irregular Records), is a mixture of old and new. Several old "hits" of George's receive a new treatment by the combined talents of Saskia Tomkins (fiddle), Miranda Sykes (double bass), Anahata (concertina, melodeon and cello), and vocals by Johnny Collins, Graeme Knights, Moira Craig, Cloudstreet and John Breeze. There is a bunch of new "crackers" to look forward to also, from Memory and Christmas Day which account for a significant increase in the pre-gig sales of paper hankies to the anthemic doggerel (sorry!) of the Bite of the Underdog.
Recorded and mixed in June, the album was released on 11th October 2004 and distributed by Proper Records. Look out for it in the record stores!
Recording session photos are posted here.
