The biggest part of me © Copyright George Papavgeris, May 2005 There are times when I recall Sights and sounds of days behind me Things I never can explain and cannot share Like the warmth of mother's arms When the tiredness would find me And my father's footsteps coming up the stairs And if I forget these things again, to me it's no surprise. For the things I left behind me I can still find in your eyes. You're the biggest part of me You're the sunrise in the morning And the summer breezes playing through my hair You're the biggest part of me You're the sunset in the evening And the honeysuckle perfume in the air Small mementos of the past Precious memories and golden Like the harbour's waters sparkling in the sun Like the crunching of my steps In the park, when leaves had fallen or the clatter of the horse's hooves when milkman's on his run. And I'd love to travel back in time, you know that much is true But I only would do that if I could share those things with you You're the biggest part of me…. Learning how to ride a bike Learning how to tie my laces And the first time that I sipped a glass of wine Growing up amongst those old Loving and familiar faces All these memories for ever will be mine. And if only you could see and hear those things inside my head But I'm happy just to be with you and hear your voice instead You're the biggest part of me…. My beginnings you don't know And your past does not concern me To each other's future we can still lay claim Like two trains that start apart And they meet along the journey Yet their final destination is the same And you have your memories as well that I can never share And if I'm a little jealous, it's only love I swear You're the biggest part of me…. |
