Serendipity © Copyright George Papavgeris, December 2007 Was it chance or was it planning Was it fair or stormy weather Or perhaps an answer to somebody's prayer Serendipity or fortune That has brought us here together For an hour each other's company to share? Does it mean anything, perhaps it's a sign That for an hour or two your life touches mine? It's just a turn of the road Only a moment in time Who knows where we'll be tomorrow How long we still have to climb Only a step in the dance Only a note in the tune Only a word in the story A grain of sand in the dune There's no need for criticising , Keeping up with one another Or pretending all the answers to have found For we all came here from somewhere And we all have had a mother And we all don't really know where we are bound No need for questions and no need to explain Nothing to lose but maybe something to gain. It's just a turn of the road Only a moment in time Who knows where we'll be tomorrow How long we still have to climb Only a step in the dance Only a note in the tune Only a word in the story A grain of sand in the dune There's no politics or colour No religious ties or tether There's no history or actions to atone There is only human kindness And the joy of being together Soon enough we'll be back on the road alone And if in years to come we both should forget At least this moment we need never regret. It's just a turn of the road Only a moment in time Who knows where we'll be tomorrow How long we still have to climb Only a step in the dance Only a note in the tune Only a word in the story A grain of sand in the dune |
