Down A Country Lane © Copyright George Papavgeris, December 2001 When you 've had enough of the busy streets When there's grey in all the faces that you meet When the daily grind is driving you out of your mind Slam the door on all that and come walking out with me. If you have a dog, let him off the lead If you don't, just let yourself go free Open up your eyes, every corner's a surprise What was that you saw just then, hide behind the tree? If it snows, we'll make angels in the fields If it rains, we'll go splashing in the pools If the pools are frozen, skim the pebbles by the dozen This is not the city, there's another set of rules. If you're hungry, there are blackberries in the bush If you're thirsty, there is water in the stream Time you realised all these years you'd shut your eyes And you had forgotten there's so many shades of green. CHORUS Listen and you'll hear all the sounds of yesteryear Look at all those colours that will never fade That perfume you smell comes from nature, not a shelf Come and take a walk with me down a country lane |
