folk21 aims & objectives

Our Aims:

- To help sustain and support a vibrant "guest booking" folk scene in the UK
- To Encourage collaboration between folk clubs and small venues on a regional basis
- To provide advice and support to folk organisers, venues and artists
- To maintain current audiences and develop new audiences to attend folk clubs and small folk venues



Our Objectives:

1 Developing a "Successful Approaches to Running a Folk Club/Venue" a guidance document for folk club organisers

2 Developing a "Successful Approaches to Getting Gigs" a guidance document for artists - providing practical help and advice where appropriate
3 Developing a thriving on-line folk community for the sharing of ideas, good practice and discussion
4 Helping to facilitate the development of regional groups to provide a local focus to enhance co operation, communication, conflict diaries and to bring in new blood (both organisers and artists) into the folk scene
5 Organising regional discussion days and showcase evenings
6 Developing initiatives that will market and promote existing smaller folk venues/clubs to a much wider audience, while simultaneously encouraging the creation of new venues/clubs
7 Working with club/venue organisers to ensure positive audience experience
8 Working with other parts of the folk movement (sessions, non-booking clubs, festivals, larger concert organisers etc…) to identify and put into place co operative and inclusive initiatives that support both their and "FOLK21"'s objectives
9 Putting in place a series of fundraising initiatives to raise funds to underpin the stated objectives of the organisation
10 Producing and maintaining both a regional directory of UK guest booking folk clubs/venues as well as a national directory
